Leading up to the release of a new line of high quality wireless earbuds, DotNine needed a new logo and packaging template that felt consistent with their brand.
Everything comes back to the brand motif of a perfect circle. The logo uses very specific and intentional proportions to give it a feeling of unity. Even the octagonal shape has the silhouette of a low resolution circle. But without the practical downsides of an unstackable circular packaging.
Two sides were dedicated to branding. The remaining six were used to advertise different strengths of the product.
In order, the icons represent;
Waterproof, Bluetooth, Voice Controls and Mic, Sustainable Design, Battery Life, Durable.
Everything started with the logo. It is the silhouette of two earbuds wrapped around each other. This looked like a dot and a nine, giving rise to the name.
I made the dielines and the physical mock-ups to prove that I could actually make this package functionally in real life. The tabs, while not ideal, were there to accommodate retailers without the space to display or stack the packages. But for presentation purposes, and for the prestige of the brand, they were removed.
I loved crafting the physical mock-ups, but the ink cracked at the folds was disappointing. So, I taught myself Blender 3D just to have better looking examples.
